Gareth is a Senior Building Surveyor with qualifications in performance-based building design. As an Associate at Philip Chun Building Compliance, he provides Building Code consultancy services to both Queensland State Government and private sector clients. Gareth is a licenced builder with a career spanning more than 25 years in construction and heavy industry.
His expertise lies in delivering compliance advice on complex issues, with a focus on building fire services, fire systems interface, and smoke hazard management systems. Through his work with the Queensland Fire Department, Gareth recognised the challenges fire crews will face in their intervention efforts with electric vehicle fires in buildings. This experience led him to innovate the EV FirePro fixed firefighting system.
Having advised major clients including Queensland Health, Ampol Alternative Energies, and Mirvac Retail, Gareth possesses a deep understanding of the implications of electric vehicle fires in the built environment and is experienced in developing effective mitigation strategies to protect property and support the safety of firefighters in an electric vehicle fire event.
